Nepal: Trekking Solu-Khumbu – Festivals and Pike Peak

This trip through the Solu or lower Everest region of Nepal is truly a camping trek and travels through primarily Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries, including Tuptencholing, the holiest of monasteries to the Solu Sherpas. At the end of the trek, however, in Jiri and Changma you also blend with Brahman, Chhetri and other ethnic groups. Because there are few lodges and one has to camp, the area does not see a lot of tourism, part of the charm. Along the way, you spend a lot of time with the locals, experience the services at the monasteries, visit one of the original Hillary schools, and, in spring, enjoy the Dumje Festival in Junbesi. To add to the experience, you have excellent views of mountains such as Numbur, Kanteiga and even Everest from a distance.

With you will be a guide, porters and a cook, who will provide a delicious blend of Nepali and western food.
