Seeking a more authentic way to see Patagonia’s waterways? Americans are just finding out about the more unusual way to visit Patagonia – a slower, more relaxing multi-day ferry ride that caters to adventurers who prefer sailing the fjords and channels versus more active hiking options that dominate this area.
First, visit Chile’s beautiful coastal areas of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. Fly south to the gateway of Patagonia, Puerto Montt, where you’ll take a private tour of the fishing villages of Ancud and Chiloe Island. Then board the ferry to start four-day sail through one of the most majestic waterways of the world. Accommodations and food will be simple, but while you’re on the ferry, you’ll mingle with a fascinating mix of other international travelers and locals. End the trip in Puerto Natales, the headquarters for most land-based Patagonia adventures before returning to Santiago.
NOTE: If you’d like to upgrade your experience, we also offer the more deluxe Stella Australis cruise option or extend your stay by adding a few nights in Torres del Paine National Park for hiking.
