In fact, the essence of yoga is working towards the union of our individual consciousness with Divine consciousness, in hopes of liberating ourselves from suffering and finding eternal bliss. The asanas and meditation are simply vehicles for achieving this union.
Learning to understand yoga is learning to understand a very important part of Indian culture and life. The philosophy has its roots in one of the oldest of scriptures, The Vedas, and there are five main paths of yogic practice one can follow.
This very special trip introduces us to different aspects of yoga and meditation but also introduces us to the culture of India, the world’s largest democracy. Not only do you visit such key sites as Haridwar and Rishikesh, where the Beatles studied; Varanasi, the holiest of sites in India; Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, and Agra, home to the Taj, but you meet with yogic masters along the way and even spend time in an ashram.
