Knowledge. Education. Giving Back.
READ Global was founded by Myths and Mountains President Dr. Antonia Neubauer in 1991 as a way to give back to local communities in our destinations. READ helps build community library resources centers that offer knowledge, information, and educational touring opportunities to rural villagers in Nepal, India, and Bhutan. Today READ is a separate non-profit 501c3 headquartered in San Francisco.
READ Global seeds for-profit businesses to make each library self-sustaining and connect centers with other organizations providing such diverse resources as microcredit, women’s empowerment, literacy training, and health care.
To date, READ has established over 107 enterprises supporting almost 80 READ Centers serving almost two million rural villagers. Our Myths and Mountains family and friends have helped make READ what it is today. We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to continuing to expand our work to additional communities in the coming years.
