A Taste of Bhutan
Touring Bhutan gives you the opportunity to experience the country and get a a taste of it and its people by meeting families, staying in small hotels, visiting schools, enjoying hot stone baths, and sampling regional foods. Travel routes in Bhutan may be somewhat limited, but what you do in the country is as broad as your imagination.
You can customize the dates for this trip to suit your timing. Bhutan has many different festivals, and we would be happy to work with you to include one of those special events in your visit.
This trip is priced with base level hotels in the country, and we have given you supplements for some of the mid-level hotels and 5-star hotels. If you don’t see what you want, we can easily get the information you need.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a short trip for someone pressed for time, or who is adding Bhutan to another program. If you wish to extend your trip, visit Gangtey, Bumthang or the Haa Valleys, we are happy to make additional arrangements.

Trip Overview
Experience & Explore
- Day 1
Arrival in Bhutan. Explore Paro. Drive to Thimphu. Possible stop at local home en route.
- Day 2
Visit Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum, Paper factory, village school for arts and crafts, Zilukha Nunnery.
- Day 3
Drive over Dochu La to Punakha. Optional hike on Dochu La to Lungchuzekha. Evening visit to Chimi Lhakang.
- Day 4
Explore Punakha. Hike to Kamsum Yuelling. Visit a home and Punakha Dzong. Optional rafting or biking (not included in base cost).
- Day 5
Return to Paro with picnic in Lamperi Botanical Gardens (weather permitting) or lunch in Thimphu. Explore Paro.
- Day 6
Horses or climb to Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery. Visit to Kyichu Gompa. Optional hot stone bath (not included in base cost).
- Day 7
Depart Bhutan.
