Trip Overview
Experience & Explore
- Day 1
Early morning arrival in Bhutan. Explore Paro. Drive to Thimphu. Possible stop at local home en route.
- Day 2
Visit Memorial Chorten, Textile Museum, Paper factory. Hike to village school for arts and crafts. Sunset at Buddha Park
- Day 3
Drive Paro and Fly Bumthang. Afternoon visit to Jambay and walk through the fields to Kurjey. Fall – Evening Jambay Lhakhang Drup.
- Day 4
Tour Jakar Valley. Fall – Enjoy Jambay Tsechu
- Day 5
Option A. Drive Tang Valley and Hike to Kunzandrak Gompa up on the hill. Then, visit Mebartso.
Option B. Visit Ugyencholing Museum and hike through fields to road head. Visit Mebartso.
- Day 6
Drive to Gangtey
- Day 7
Visit Gangtey Gompa and Black Crane Center. Hike through Valley.
- Day 8
Drive to Punakha. Spring: Attend Punakha Drupchen. Fall: Visit Punakha Dzong. Evening cooking lesson.
- Day 9
Spring: Punakha Serda. Fall: Lu-choe ceremony. Drive or hike to Norbugang (village of royal family) and possibly on to Talo. Evening visit to Nalanda Monastery.
- Day 10
Drive to Paro via Thimphu with optional hike to Lungchuzeykha Temple and picnic lunch.
- Day 11
Hike to Taktsang Monastery and visit Kyichu. Farewell dinner.
- Day 12
Depart Bhutan for home.
