Journey from China to Vietnam
Although this trip is from the base of the Tibetan Plateau in China to Vietnam seems like the ultimate in adventure, curious people of all ages and physical abilities can enjoy this most unusual program when traveling to Vietnam. The itinerary certainly takes you “off the beaten track;” but the trip is not difficult. The travelers you meet (and there will be many Chinese tourists), the scenery, and the variety of cultures make this the vacation of a lifetime on this China and Vietnam custom tour.
Beginning in Lijiang, you head north to the Tibetan plateau to Gyalthang, the area aptly named by the Chinese, “Shangri-La!” From Shangrila, you drive south to Dali and on to Kunming. Heading on towards the Vietnam border, you stop at villages that see few westerners and visit the third largest Confucian temple in China. Crossing the border into Vietnam and Lao Cai, your path takes you to the hill tribe towns of Sa Pa and Bac Ha in time to catch the Sunday market in Bac Ha. After an overnight train ride, you finally end up in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, for a last few wonderful days.

Arrive Bangkok. NOTE: TODAY MUST BE A SUNDAY!
- Day 2
Fly Kunming from Bangkok (booked on your own). Here you will connect with a 5PM flight to Lijiang (booked by us). Upon arrival, met and taken to hotel.
- Day 3
Visit old town, Yuhu Village and Joseph Rock home and Museum. Naxi music and dance concert.
- Day 4
Explore Lijang including produce market and Black Dragon Pool. Afternoon visit to Wembi temple and retreat.
- Day 5
Drive to Lijiang via Shegu, Bend in the Yangtse, and Tiger Leaping Gorge.
- Day 6
Tour Ganden Sumtsanling Monastery and Ringha Temple.
- Day 7
Drive along the upper Yangtze Gorge to visit Nishi and Gonzao.
- Day 8
Drive to Dali via Xizhou.
- Day 9
Explore the city.
- Day 10
Drive to Kunming including the Dinosaur Museum.
- Day 11
Explore the city.
- Day 12
Drive to Jianshui via Tonghai.
- Day 13
Tour Jianshui including The Sea of Learning Lake Temple.
- Day 14
Drive to Lao Cai via Mengze, cross the border to Vietnam, and drive to Bac Ha.

Visit Sunday Market in Bac Ha and villages. Drive Sa Pa.

Visit villages.
- Day 17
Visit villages. Drive Lao Cai and take train back to Hanoi.
- Day 18
Arrive Hanoi. Ethnic Museum, market, Old Quarter. Meeting with puppet master and private show.
- Day 19
Hanoi touring – Tai Chi on the lake, Temple of Literature, Presidential Palace, cooking demonstration, My Village show. Farewell dinner.
