Adventurous Traveling to Vietnam and Laos
An adventurous travel experience to Vietnam and Laos for those who want to walk to remote villages, kayak, explore mysterious caves and give back to the people.
Travel across the border between Vietnam and Laos near Hanoi, visiting Muong and Thai villages along the way. Cross into Sam Neua Province in Laos, famous for its woven fabrics. Then head on to Luang Prabang, where you can visit the town, textile villages. In the fall, you may help Brother Mouse bring books to remote villages.
From Luang Prabang, you fly up to the mysterious Plain of Jars, the Laotian answer to Stonehenge and critical part of the country during the Vietnam War. Finally, your path takes you beyond the capital of Vientiane to remote Kong Lor for some exciting caving and kayaking before returning to Vientiane and flying home.

Experience & Explore
- Day 1
Arrive in Hanoi. Cyclo Ride, Cheo Show and welcome dinner.
- Day 2
Hanoi Touring – Temple of Literature, Presidential Palace, cooking demonstration, History Museum, Opera House, Old Quarter. Meeting with puppet master and private puppet show.
- Day 3
Drive through Hoa Binh and Mai Chau on your way to Ban Sai.
- Day 4
Head to the Na Meo Border and then continue to Sam Neua.
- Day 5
Sam Neua, Caves, Tad Nam Neua Waterfall and Hmong Villages.
- Day 6
Sam Neua to Nong Khiaw via the stone forest (Suan Hin) and villages.
- Day 7
Drive towards Luang Prabang. Ferry across river to Pak Ou Caves. Continue to Luang Prabang.
- Day 8
Luang Prabang touring – Alms for monks, Arts and Ethnology Center, National Museum, Ok Pop Tok and different wats. Optional climb of Mt. Phousi. Baci Ceremony and dinner with family
- Day 9
Spring: Visit Khouang Si, Villages
Fall: AM Book Trip to Brother Mouse, PM at Khouang Si Falls.
- Day 10
Drive to Xiengkhuang, stopping at Hmong and Khmu villages, and cave
- Day 11
Visit Plain of Jars, local villages, Tai Sam Cultural Hall, hot springs
- Day 12
Fly Vientiane. Visit Pratuxai and That Luang. Introduction to Lao Cooking in Ban Thaphalansay Village
- Day 13
Drive Khounkham via Wat Prabaht and Wat Phonson and Hmong Market.
- Day 14
Drive Kong Lor Village and cave by boat and foot, as well as other villages. Drive Tha Khaek
- Day 15
Day kayaking river and exploring another cave. Late return to Vientiane
- Day 16
Sightseeing in Vientiane and visit to market, textile galleries, Wat Sisaket, Wat Si Muang, and Haw Phra Kheao.
- Day 17
Depart for home.
