On this journey, you travel from North to South, from the waters of Jaffna to the Cultural Triangle, from the temples of Anuradhapura and Sigiriya to the tea plantations of Kandy and from the fort of Galle to the hustle and bustle of Colombo.

Trip Overview
Experience & Explore

Day 1

Arrive Colombo. Met and escorted through immigration and customs. Drive to hotel. Evening touring – Colombo Museum, The Victoria Park and the Independence Square at the Cinnamon Gardens. Evening welcome dinner.

Day 2

Transfer to airport to catch flight to Jaffna. Visit markets with a local cook to buy different food and supplies.Hands-on Jaffna style cooking lesson. Late afternoon visit to temple for Hindu blessing, Jaffna Public Library, Portugese Fort of Jaffna and special ice cream tasting.

Day 3

Early AM at Fish Market. Visit with local host to charity serving orphans & widows affected by the civil war. Lunch at home of local. PM visit to woodcraftsman village. Tour and pooja at Kovil.

Day 4

Drive Tirappone and evening visit to Anuradhapura.

Day 5

Private demonstration of Angampora, Sri Lanka’s martial art. Morning meeting with monks and almsgiving. Explore archeological site of Ritigala. Sunset at Sigiriya.

Day 6

Optional visit to Dambulla Cave Temples en route to Kandy. Evening visit to Kandy and the Temple of the Tooth.

Day 7

Visit dance teacher to learn about Kandyan dance. Lunch with expert on Kandy and Gampola Kingdom. Evening at leisure.

Day 8

Early AM meeting with Mike Johnson and walk around his neigborhoodDrive station. Train from Peradeniya to Hatton. Upon arrival drive to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Day 9

Visit tea factory with other optional activities: Warleigh Church, trek and bike around the tea country, visit a local tea planters village and a Hindu Kovil, or boat ride on the Castlereagh Reservoir (pending water levels).

Day 10

Drive South to Galle. Late afternoon visit by boat and bike (or car) to local village for dinner.

Day 11

Tour Galle Fort with eccentric local host. Optional afternoon activities: visit to a Cinnamon Plantation, bike to beaches, see the stilt fishermen or visit virgin tea plantation with local host.

Day 12

Explore Kanneliya Rainforest. Late afternoon at leisure with beach options

Day 13

Drive back to Colombo. City walk with Mark Forbes and farewell dinner.

Day 14

Private transfer to the airport for flight home.
