One of the most exciting drives in the world is over 17,000-foot Tanglang La and 16,000-foot high Baralacha La Pass from Ladakh down into Jispa and then on to Manali and eventually Dharamsala. This marvelous trip takes you over these passes, but not until you have enjoyed festivals, stayed with a Ladakhi family, met with the local shaman and visited such legendary monasteries as Hemis, Lamayuru, and Alchi.
But once you leave Ladakh, the excitement is not over. You can test the local beer over lunch with a family in Manali, visit Namgyal Monastery and learn about Tibetan medicine in Dharamsala, home of H.H. The Dalai Lama, and end your journey visiting the iconic Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar.

Drive Likir and then on to Alchi and Ulleytopko
- Day 7
Drive Lamayuru for the day and return to Ulleytopko
- Day 8
Return near Leh, and overnight with a family.
- Day 9
Visit with family. Return to Leh. Afternoon free for shopping.
- Day 10
Drive Sarchu.
- Day 11
Drive Jispa and visit Keylong.
- Day 12
Drive Manali. Walk to Khadung Monastery. Visit Ghosal village, test beer in a local house and lunch with family.
- Day 13
Full day in Manali – Nagar Castle, market, jagat Sukh Temples, tea with locals, Hadimba temple, Gadan Thekchoking Gompa.
- Day 14
Manali to Dharamsala. Free afternoon.
- Day 15
Namgyal Monastery, Tibetan Medical School, Norbulinka Institute and Local Market.
- Day 16
Free day in Dharamasala with guide to revisit places you would like or see new ones.
- Day 17
Drive Amritsar. Visit Golden Temple and Jalianwala Bagh. Return to Delhi. Transfer to airport for flight home.
